On Campus

We now have real live concrete evidence that the best way to get in touch with students is on campus. 53% of all the students who attended our events found out about them via their university. Watch out all Careers Services, Academic departments and Societies – we are coming to get you! And we are armed with posters!

Student Feedback

We have now pretty much recovered from the events rush! We had a fantastic season and have received some insightful and encouraging responses to our feedback surveys.

It was lovely to hear that our LGBT event, Inside & Out, was ‘…hugely inspirational, a massive personal confidence boost.’ Another student echoed this enthusiasm – ‘the event was fantastic. It really opened my eyes to how banks are ahead of the curve when it comes to personal development.’ And one more agreed – ‘Enlightening and inspirational. A great opportunity to hear what banks are doing to encourage diversity.’

Confirms that the effort made by all our team is really worthwhile!

UBS Unlock Your Potential – Female Event

We had a fantastic turnout for our UBS Unlock Your Potential event back in November – 60 (exactly!) female first year students of the highest calibre. No surprise that we are putting together a submission for the target diversity awards. All our fingers and toes are crossed for success!

Mid-events season!

We’re mid event season here at Stafford Long with two events down and three to go!! Next week will be a busy one with the UBS Unlock Your Potential on Tuesday, Inside & Out event on Wednesday and the London Banking Summit the week after.

LBS is a new venture for the team and will see 140 MBA students winging their way from the best colleges in the US to take part in this two-day event, which will connect them with recruiters at the top investment banks. There is a tremendously busy schedule, with back-to-back informational and insight sessions with each of the banks. The grand finale will take place in the London Transport Museum where canapés and drinks will be flowing!

A lot of hard work has gone into this event and we’re looking forward to finally meeting the students and doing our best to persuade them to stay in the Big Smoke!

Here’s hoping a successful event!

Zoe’s First Post!

Hello. My name is Zoe and I am the newbie at Stafford Long. Luckily I turned up just in time to celebrate the agency’s 25th birthday! Since then we have all been working hard to get the remaining Graduate Events off the ground. We are organising seven(!) between now and Christmas so it’s an exciting time to be around. Having worked in the Third Sector since graduating it’s great to be helping to organise events that champion equality. This week I have set up a Greenlight Facebook page which you can find here:

Plenty of current info about our upcoming events and the opportunity to apply!

Great feedback from Fresh Look!

Student feedback is like gold dust over here at SLAP towers and having sent out our third Fresh Look survey, we’ve had some brilliant responses:

The organisation was fantastic! As someone who had not had much contact with investment banking before, the entire experience was very impressive.

[Fresh Look] was well organised and executed and there was a large range of banks represented. All of the talks and the sessions were very useful and informative and I enjoyed the whole evening from start to finish. This is definitely the best event of its kind that I have attended to date, thank you!

The panel discussion the most inspiring event of the evening. Their passion was infectious! The careers fair was also very helpful as it gave you the chance to ask more probing questions into the applicaton process and the environment of investment banking.

I thought the whole event was excellent, I very much enjoyed it and I will definitely be applying for spring internships for 2012!

I think we deserve a pat on the back – well done team!

Fresh Look 2011

Last Wednesday saw another successful Fresh Look event take place in the historic building of J.P. Morgan. Just over 100 1st year girls arrived in force, and after much preparation from Greenlight it was brilliant to see all them enjoying themselves and making the most out of meeting the bank reps.

The panel discussion brought some of the top names from the CDF forum to the table and questions were flying around the room, as the students eagerly awaited their chance to ask a burning question.

After hearing some feedback from the banks, they seemed very impressed with the turnout of students and more so by their enthusiasm. After a glass of wine, it was time to clear up and politely kick the stragglers out! We were very pleased with the success of the event and are already looking forward to next year’s Fresh Look!

UK Universities to go private?

Results from a recent survey have found that some UK universities are considering going private, which would mean they would no longer get direct funding for research or teaching from the government. Vice chancellors from a number of universities across the UK took part in the survey and it was found that two, which have not been named, are considering this shift, however the number is expected to be higher.

This comes following news that Universities will have to compete against each other and private providers for a quarter of their student places, as well as for unlimited places for students who achieve top A-Level grades.  These are plans that are promising to put “students in the driving seat!”  What do you think?
